Erin invited me up for Women's Conference this year and I thought, "Why not?" So I went! I had never been before, even though I spent almost 5 years in Utah attending BYU. I don't even really remember noticing it going on...which is strange because holy cow I have never seen so many Mormon women in one place. I had a great time with Erin. We were both rookies at the conference so we didn't know about running to each class so you can actually get in. We caught on pretty fast though. We heard some great classes on Marriage, Friendship, Visiting Teaching and others. Elder Bednar spoke, Julie Beck spoke, it was great. The theme was By Small and Simple Things are Great Thing Brought to Pass. Andrew was great about letting me attend and keeping the kids all on his own. I think it turned out great for him too though because the entire conference I kept resolving "I will be a better wife! I will be a better mother!" I know, I'm a nerd.
There lots of other things going on at the conference too. They had these take and return service kits which were super fun to do. I got to put my crochet skills to work a little bit. Erin said I looked like a little granny, but I think I looked pretty awesome. They had a big formal service event the first night and we got to sew these fun activity totes together. I also learned this night that Erin has zero sewing skills...like none. Our conversation as we're sitting down to begin our project (REALLY):
These are the awesome shirts I brought home for the kiddos. Andrew got the best one (I have no picture of it yet). It is a likeness of Jimmer Fredette with the word "Unfredettable" on it. NICE.
Owen and Elly love to shout "GO BYU!" Owen also loves to chant "Raw Raw Raw Raw Raw, Goooooooooooooooooo Cougars!!" This includes the arm roll and fist in the air. (My fellow Cougars know what I mean.) It makes me so proud.
Erin: Ok, how do I do this?
Amy: All we're doing is sewing these together with a running stitch.
Erin: What's a running stitch?
Amy: You know, up down, up down, up down (demonstrating).
Erin: (puzzled look)
Amy: Don't forget to double your thread.
Amy: Don't forget to double your thread.
Erin: What?
Amy: You know, just pull it through and tie it so it's double.
Erin: (pulls thread through needle and begins to tie nots at both ends of the thread)
Amy: (totally laughing) Erin, that's not double.
Erin: (looking at mine) Oh! I can do that. (Begins trying to shove BOTH ends of the string through her needle at once)
Amy: (hand over my face) REALLY?
I'm happy to report that Erin picked it up and now has a brand new skill! :)

I should really clear this up and tell the REAL story. :) Ha ha! You had me laughing out loud. Fun times. Now I need to do it again quick before I forget how.
The Erin sewing story is quite hilarious. Thanks for sharing!
Don't worry Erin, I think I would have been pretty similar!
