CABO!!!

This post is two months late, but I'm sure that surprises no one. We had TWO incredible trips this winter. It was very coincidental and made us feel super fancy! I'm pretty sure it's the fanciest winter we'll ever have :) Hawaii was first, but THEN we went on our first cruise with our wonderful friends Chris and Katie! It was a children-free trip and oh so relaxing!
The best part about the trip, other than the great company, was the lack of any responsibility! Someone picked up after me, no one threw food at me while I ate, I didn't have to change any diapers or make sure no one was jumping overboard. It was AMAZING. It was so nice to spend time with Chris and Katie since they live across the country and it's been so long since we've all been together. It was also great just to spend time with my hubby. It was so good for us to have such a nice, relaxing and enjoyable time...just the two of us.

So we left out of San Diego and spent a day and a half at sea and then arrived in "Beautiful Cabo San Lucas!" You have to say that part in a cool Australian accent since that's where our cruise director was from. We saw all the famous sights like the arch, lands end, the super stinky sea lion colony and pelican preserve. We took a zodiac boat over to Santa Maria and Chileno Bay for some great snorkeling. But the coolest thing to happen was to run into a mother humpback whale and her baby! We were in a little boat and they came so close to us! It was such an exciting experience! The baby was definitely curious and kept coming up to take a better look at us. He was TINY (in whale terms) and we could see his whole little face! They even swam right under our boat! AMAZING.

We ate at a yummy place called "Ponchos". I totally recommend it to anyone traveling there. Totally local and authentic, but not scary :) We even ran into our cruise director, Stu, there!

We had two days in Cabo and the second day was spent totally lounging on the beach with a book and good conversation. Our only care this day was to roll over and ask "what time is it?" No begging children not to eat the sand and no drowning prevention duty. Ahhhhhh...I can still picture it.

Aboard ship we had lots of fun too. Andrew and Chris purchased unlimited soda cards and got their money's worth! Everywhere they went, there was a soda in hand! We also made good use of the game room! We had some great rounds of St. Petersburg and Hearts and Carson City.
This was taken in Pharoh's Palace where they showed full scale productions each night. We were pretty impressed by the talent and made sure to check it out each night!
It was pretty windy on the ship so we didn't do a ton of swimming, but we did take up the mini-golf! We played girls vs boys and the girls STOMPED the boys. Mostly thanks to Katie's amazing holes in one! (yes, that was plural!)
We had fun eating in the fancy dining room each night! You could order as much of everything as you wanted and Andrew took full advantage of that! :) This was the "Cruise Elegant" night.
We got a little silly on the last night and decided to document more of the ship. This is our SIZEABLE state room! It had a window so we were happy. It was actually bigger than I expected.
Who doesn't love a good towel art turkey? (at least we think it's a turkey)
The bathroom was as small as I expected! It was kind of comical actually...as you can see :)
Here we are about to debark (i think that's the word) the ship on our last day. Do we look relaxed with the San Diego landscape in the back? We had such NICE time, but it was also great to get home and see the kids! We missed those little tiny people!

How fun! Charlie and I want to try a cruise someday, but I think you got it right going without kids. I kept laughing as you talked about not having to keep anyone from jumping overboard, eating sand, etc. Such is the life of a mother! Good for you for taking a much needed break. Can't wait to see you in less than a month!
